1940s: Homecomings

In Britechester, Grace is working hard on her studies, having spent too much of the first semester having fun At the commons she's working on a presentation she needs to hold. But she also find some time for a friendly game of juice pong. A girl has to have fun too, right? Back at the dorm the girls have all pitched in to buy a radio, meaning everyone gathers in the common room at night to listen. It's a struggle on which channel to listen to at times, but in the end, some dance, others read, some chat. Grace mostly tries to keep up with the never ending homework. Mornings and evenings the girls try to eat together at the dorm, with so much course work, it's all they can do to make sure they have time to really socialise. Around the dinner table everything from annoying professors, suitable bachelors and world events such as the start of the Nuremburg trials, the Chinese civil war that just started or that women were just allowed to vote in France. 1940s: A scattered Christmas

As Anna is leaving, Thomas is already settling into the new camp in Tomarang. Like Harrison and Harold before him (who are elsewhere in this strange land), the heat and mosquitos are almost as dangerous as the Japanese that keep attacking them in the night. Their camp is one of many, a part of a larger push to retake this part of the Pacific. Days are spent looking for the enemy, endlessly marching, training and keeping a look out for any sign of an attack. But before Anna has even gotten to there, Thomas has risen in the ranks to Sergeant Minor. Anna is of course not privy to any of that information. As she arrives at her hotel, she knows very little of Tomarang in general. But that has not stopped her before, nor does it stop her now. Her knowledge of various languages helps. When English does not work, French or Spanish usually does, and so she manages to speak to the locals to find out more about the place.
